Anyone know anything on this swingarm????

Well like the title says... I picked up a swingarm off a guy i knew. I dont know to much about it except the obivous. I kinda think it might be aftermarket( not homemade), but not sure. If it is homemade, someone did a great job on it. Welds all look very professional. I just didnt know if anyone could tell me about it. I dont know how big or what kinda tire and rim i can run on it. I also wasnt sure on the screw type deal on the pivot tube where the swingarm bearing usally go?

is it me or does it look homemade or a 1-off? dosent look like a manufractured item.

Looks like it was built to do single shock but it's set up to bolt in from both sides instead of pivot. Built like a lot of dragrace arms that get strutted except no strut/shock mounts.

I kinda thought thats what the screw threads was for. I thought about having a fab shop i know make some mods to it, for shock tabs and i was wondering if i could cut that pivot tube off and weld in a stock pivot tube from another stock swingarm i got?

Don't see why you couldn't put a different tube on. just jig it up well.

ya, So what size and kind of rim should i run on it? I wanna get a fat tire under it to help hook with my new motor iam building. Iam open to sugestions. I just want to get some good ideas. Remember this will be a street ridden motorcycle.

I think it's home made. It looks very cleanly done, but to me is doesn't look as rigid as the stock arm (see pics for comparison) because the "arms" of it look like they go a long way with little metal attaching them to each other. You may want to consider beefing it up if you use it. Ed

Looks like it measures around 9 1/4" inside at the back, that's close to stock so probably not any bigger than what a stocker would take.

Thats crazy i messed up when i measured it off mine. I measured mine and its round a inch narrower than the new one. But it was comparing it with it installed on the bike, but i still wouldnt think it would compress the the swingarm together a little over inch?

Maybe, I don't have a stock one here to measure. I build 9 1/4" for stock, 10 1/4 for bigger tire. You might double check but I could be wrong on the stock.

Your probally right mine isnt stock its a homemade one i picked up long time ago. But iam still running a 150/80/16 rear and i believe thats max for that swingarm. Maybe i should just find another one Then. I dont want a real big tire tho. I want it to look moderately orginal.
