How can I take rear shocks apart??
25 Jun 2012 18:20
The Putz that I bought my 79 KZ1000st from sprayed black paint over anything he could to try and clean up the look of the bike, too bad he sprayed the rear shocks/ springs as well (including the shafts). Is there a way of getting the shocks apart so I can clean and paint them properly? The shocks seem to work well but I'm sure the paint on the shafts will kill the seals.

The shocks are probably pressurized. I'd call around the various shock makers and ask:
