Wrong bodywork, paint, wheels, mirrors, handlebars, air filters, exhaust, shocks, fenders, seat, turn signals. Missing grab rails. I really don't see any resemblence to original. Not trying to downgrade the bike. Nice if you like it, that's fine and. KZ650 is always a good motorcycle.
As usual you're right; there's practically nothing original about that bike other than the swingarm (if that). When he said "I bought a 1977 kz650 all original..." I thought he meant before he made a bunch of modifications to it.
Regarding liking the look of a stretched bike - well it's your bike, so if you plan to look at it rather than ride it here's a suggestion:

   Forgive me,
You should really get a new picture or get a new joke it is played out many times already!!!!!
I agree with Les these bikes did not handle great when new let alone 30+ years later, If you put a 2-4 inch over swingarm and a inverted frontend it will handle, brake, feel, and look better than it did new. Now I will say this it will never handle like a newer GSXR with a 2-4 over arm but you are talkin apples and oranges totaly different animals.

Ok, I'm convinced. I will contact Jorge Lorenzo this afternoon and explain to him that he needs to stretch his swingarm if he wants his bike to handle well. I simply don't understand how he and his fellow professional racers overlooked the advantages of the stretched swing arm, but I will tell him to change this:
to this:
or this:
Or maybe if I could get a good picture of that sweet handling rslingshot machine in your avatar (perhaps with an engine in it?) I can forward it to him. I'm sure he will be happy to apply the mods to his crappy handling stumpy little bike.

they are a valuable source of info.esp.for the kz 650's they do know their stuff, but tend to like stock bikes over anything that has been modded.
but hey it would be a pretty boring world if everyone like cool stuff :woohoo: .

Concider it done Bradley! When I get home I'll pm you some helpful areas to work with.
650ed, I reread my post to see where I said it would handle like a race bike or better than a well prepared stock bike and couldn't find it, guess it's something gained in translation. I guess I didn't know you couldn't make a stretch bike handle at all.
