Re: KZ900 Aluminum swingarm doesn't quite fit
11 Jun 2012 18:29The top rails have not been cut off - there weren't any top rails. I'm not certain this is a Cal Fab swingarm. That's the only name that comes to mind though for an aluminum swingarm that fits a KZ900.4TheKZ1000 wrote: who cut off the rear top rails from the swingarm? The weld bead that is on the back top of swing arm used to host a upper stiffener bar. Yours are cut off?

Okay I got the swingarm on. It took some work to bend the brake rod to fit around the swingarm. And then I cut a piece of aluminum stock to make a shorter torque arm.
Went out riding today and the KZ handles nicely with the swingarm and wider back tire.
I've had this bike for nearly a year and only rode it a few miles until today. Got home and noticed some oil near the ignition cover. I hope the leak isn't coming from the crank seal!

Thanks for the compliments! I used 1/8 thick aluminum for the brake arm, I think it will hold up. I hardly use the back brake anyways.
The broomstick drag bars look cool but I think I'm leaning too far forward while riding. Superbike bars may go on soon.
Checkout the license plate. Mad Max was already taken.

That's what I used, maybe a little thicker (but not 1/4"). Do what you want, but I BTDT.

That's a good looking bike! Even the dog looks to be in a trance looking at it.

What size tire did you get in there with that swingarm? How much did you have to offset the front sprocket?

I'm using a 130/90 x 18. No offset on the sprocket. The chain and sprockets are 530.

Did you notice much difference? Is that the widest tire you could fit in that swingarm? Did you figure out who made it?

That arm looks about as wide as my gpz 750 arm.
With a disk brake and off set sprocket's
I can fit a 160-170 tire easy.
Mockup with a 130.
