help with 1982 kz1100 rake and trail was created by beachbumtroy
im having no luck everywhere ive tried so wanted to ask u guys if u can give me the answer or lead me to where it would be? i just got a 1982 kz 1100 and am using it on a trike project and was wanting to know if anyone can tell me the o.e.m rake and trail it was suppose to have? any help or leads r greatly appreciated thnx bb

76 KZ, frame gusset work,1200CC.Ported by Larry Cavanaugh, 1.5mm.over intakes, Carron Pipe, ZRX12 rear end, and seat,96zx9 front end.

do u have the complete bike? if so , we can help u measure it.

no guys sorry i just have the front end,i know i can put it practically anywhere i want just was hoping to get the original rake and trail to try and keep it close to what it was from factory,so if u know that i would appreciate it thnx bb

i honestly dont know this is my first trike project and im new to this,where i have it mocked up is about 30 degrees but as i said i can put it where ever im just having no luck getting the original specs,more of a curiousity thing than anything.so appreciate the responses just hoping for the o.e.m specs thnx bb

the rake wont change unless u raise or lower either end of the bike, or bend the neck. if u raise the ass,1 inch the rake will decrees about 1*. the stock rake for a kz is about 26* . modern sport bikes r at 23/24* 30 is pretty low. this will make it turn in very easily but may be unstable at high speed.

ok appreciate the info thats what i wanted to know was the stock rate for the rake and u say it was about 26 degrees then thats awful close to where it is mocked up so i guess i`ll be alright thnx bb

I found specs for the KZ1000P at 27 degrees with 4.5" trail, that should keep you close. Make sure you have enough trail, that will lend high speed stability.
