32 teeth sprocket on my 84 gpz 1100

I was just wondering what will happen If I were to replace my factory sprocket with a 32 teeth sprocket. I'm planing on replacing the front and rear wheel bearings so I was thinking '' WHAT IF ''

www.gearingcommander.com is what I use when changing sprocket ratio's

Youll have enough gearing to run 250 at the salt flats ,but you might get passed by a guy peddling a mountain bike getting up to speed! :woohoo:

Some prefer overall gearing that allows the engine to barely pull red line in top gear.

There is a point of diminishing returns where further sacrificing acceleration for taller gearing doesn't result in a higher achievable top speed.

The large Kaw fours (Z1~KZ1000) with stock gearing are generally able to pull about the same top speed in fourth (fudging the red line) as they do in fifth. But am uncertain whether this applies equally as well to the GPZ1100.

These are completely different bikes, but let me share my experience with changing sprockets for speed. On my old 07 ZX6R, I was topping out at 148 actual (speedo healer corrected) with stock gearing. I dropped a tooth in the front, not concerned about top speed, I wanted more off the line pull. I got that, but I also hit 156 on my next flat out run. This worked because with stock gearing I couldn't hit redline.

Moral of the story, it takes high HP to reach those high speeds. That drastic of a reduction reduces the power you have at the wheel and I bet it will actually cost you top speed.
