KZ750 shocks on KZ1000 was created by Brown_Muscle
Has anyone here used KZ750 shocks on a KZ1000 to lower the rear an inch? If so is it necessary to use different springs due to the inch height difference? I don't need a high spring rate as i am a light guy (about 140Lbs). Thanks
-Phil

I was in a pinch and used KZ650 shocks on my 900. The only problem I had was getting the bike to stay on the side stand. It wanted to stay straight up where the wind would blow it over. You may need to modify the side stand if you plan on lowering the bike

the spring rate relates to the bike and riders combined weight. so if the 2 bikes r of similar wieght , u will be fine. since u r a light wieght rider this should work in your favor.

Ok I was mainly worried about the 750 shocks not being built to handle the increased weight of the 1000. I intend to get the 750 shocks and lower the triple tree for a 1" total drop. Think I'll have any issues with the stock pipes dragging with just a 1" drop? I'm doing it simply because the bike is a little too high for me (I'm 5' 9")

The shocks will take the weight, you can adjust the preload. The 650 shocks are 1 inch shorter IIRC. You can lower the legs in the triple tree and see what happens for ground clearance. I scrape mt header on sharp corners at factory height, depends hoe you ride it.

My mother was a short woman and she rode a Honda 750four back in the day. She took her riding boots to a shoe shop and they added car tread bottoms on her boots for extra height. It worked for her but platform shoes were in back then. B)

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationhaha yeah I was also considering getting some "riverboots" with close to a 2" tread...but thought they looked a bit ridiculous.

I just bought new shocks for my KZ1100 LTD. Website called Parts n more. the shortest shocks that they offer are 290mm about 11.5 eye to eye. The bike handles great, doesn't bottom out with my daughter riding (regualr passenger these days.) bike was just too tall for me otherwise. The shocks were just over $90. USD and i got the parts in about a week. They come with different sized bushings, washers, and preload adjustment tool. I highly reccommend them. (I have a shaft, so I have no idea what this would do to a chain drive, or belt dirve bike.) no problems so far, just livin' the dream.

Got the 750 shocks in the other day... and I discovered a few glitches with them... The base of the spring is too wide for the shock, it will fit however a lip sticks over the edge and as a result the spring is crooked...i ordered some grade 8 zinc coated washers the appropriate size to go over the shock so that the spring will seat correctly.

I tried to look up 750 twin specific springs but all i can find is the size springs i currently have (ID wise)... Probably for the best because 10 dollars of washers is cheaper than 70 dollars of shocks heh.
