Front brake issues was created by fizzer_$tfighter
My front brakes will not work properly.
To date ive replaced the mc twice, currently has a zx-9 mc.
Now I got both the replacement mc from the salvage yard, but they seemed to be in working order when I got them.
The calipers are ” working”, and the parts are fresh.
When I say working, I mean they don't leak and the piston compresses the pads to the rotor.
There just isn't any stopping power...

Lines?

It would help a lot if you were to put the year and model of your bike in your signature line. Not all Kawasakis used the same front brakes. Ed

You may still have air in the system, or the replacement MC may not be pushing enough volume of brake fluid if it is not sized for your dual calipers. If mine, I would rebuild the original unit since that one would have worked well when the bike was new. The rebuild kit for the 1982 KZ1000-J2 is available from Z1E for $38.10. (see link) Maybe check with Jeff at Z1E to be sure that it the correct kit. Ed

Ive never had the stock kz1000 mc.
I had a kz mc, but unsure of the model it came off of.

I bled the system, and the shop I took it to for inspection bled it a well.
The current mc is from a newer zx9r so its def setup for dual calipers.

Im considering getting a rebuild kit for the zx9 mc as well as getting ssbraided lines.

If the calipers were shit, wouldnt they would be leaking fluid?

You can remove the complete system and bleed one more time with the calipers above the master cylinder. It might save you several dollars. roy

I just put front SS lines on my 82. While holding the OEM line by the MC I could feel it expand when I applied the brake. Took a few tries to bleed all the air.

Roy I never thought about pulling everything off. I will kept that in mind as I need to reroute MC line or get a shorter one.

I noticed that it appears my calipers shit when I apply the brake. It looks as though the bottom part moves? It may just be the lines moving though and giving the optical illusion that the calipers are moving.

Is there a bolt on up grade for these brakes?

The calipers are supposed to move when you apply the brakes; that's what makes them work. They slide back and forth a small amount on their pins as the live pad (the one located against the caliper piston) presses against the rotor and when the pressure is released. If they didn't dead pad would never make contact with the rotor. Ed

buy a vacuum pump brake bleeder.they work great and save a lot of frustration. they r less than $40.
www.harborfreight.com/brake-bleeder-and-...-pump-kit-92474.html

u just put it on the bleed nipple and it pulls the fluid down from the master. just keep refilling the master.
i'd say u just have air in the lines still. i have a zx9 master too.
