New tires kind of vibrate at low speeds?
11 Apr 2012 22:37
I got new tires on one of my "other" bikes. The tires that came off where pretty worn. I got some metzler marathons. They have pretty deep treads on them compared to the ones that came off. The first time I rode it I thought I did something wrong on the install because at low speeds I could "feel" the tread hitting the road... Has anyone else experienced this, or am I just messed up in the head?

New tires must be balanced after installing on the rim, which you can do a static balance yourself. Check your manual, it should explain this.

I had them professionally mounted and balanced.
I'm talking uber slow speed. 4 mph slow. It's like I can feel the tread depths as they hit the pavement...haha, it's weird I tell ya.

Sorry thought you had done it. They could still be off. You would have to pull the brake calipers, so there is no drag. Slowly rotate the front wheel and see if it will have a heavy spot. The back would require chain and brake removal.

Yes, I have felt it too. Those tires are loud, you can hear a difference also.
