case guard

I'm looking at set of case guards on ebay for my kz440, but can't figure out where they would attach. I know the tops hook to the tubes, but where do they attach on the bottom? Anybody know? Do they require additional mounting hardware? thanks.

There are a few different styles of case guards. Which kind are you looking at?

I've got a couple of sets of the 3 point style, one set mounts directly onto stock points on the frame, the other has 2 frame points and a u-bracket for the 3rd point. The 2 point styles I checked out worked with the stock mounts as well. Even without instructions it would take you about 40 seconds of playing match the holes to figure out how to get them on your ride.

Well, got the case guards, luckily for a good price, and can easily see where the upper attachment is, but there is nothing to attach to on the lower end. How does the guard in the picture attach at the lower end? The instructions indicate that they should fit my bike, but there is nowhere for the bolt to go, at least that I can see. I'll have to rig up some kind of modified clamp unless someome can solve this mystery. thanks

KZ650, 750, 1000 ect with inline fours benefit by using the guards if you can stomach the ugliness factor. A KZ440? Why? The engine is not wide enough to need them. Going by memory as I haven't ever looked at a KZ400 or 440 in person since 1981, but I believe the twin is narrow, but could be wrong.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.
