R6 master for my KZ1000 was created by Kapahulu
I picked up a front master cylinder from a Yamaha R6. Purpose - to improve the braking power on my KZ. An R6 has dual discs. I'd like to run this master cylinder with a single disc on the KZ. However I think there might be a problem with too much force and locking up the wheel. Has anybody tried this master cylinder with a single disc?

I do have an extra disc and can run dual discs on the front of the KZ1000 if necessary. The bike already has braided lines.

Thanks, Mike

in theory , u will have more power at the caliper, and a shorter stroke at the lever, with the R6 master. but since the KZ brakes suck to begin with, i dont think u will have a problem.
worst case scenario, u change it back.
as far as locking up the front wheel. This would be a good thing. u just have to use less pressure. for example, with KZ brakes, u need to use 4 fingers to brake hard. with a modern bike u would lock the front wheel and do a stoppie, if u applied the same amount of force to the lever. but with the modern bikes u can easily use just 2 fingers to stop the bike.
I say try it and see. u can always change it back.
i have a zx12 master on my kz with zx9 dual disc's.it works good. Not as great as my cbr but better than stock.

I think it would be fine also, I've got full PM brakes with braded lines on mine and the upgrade is huge. The stock rotors on the Z1 & Kz's are flipping boat anchors. There will be less rotating mass on the front wheel and will no doubt stop with less effort. As Mark said the stock brakes pretty much suck on these bikes.
