So everyone has been so helpfull in giving me tips on how to replace front shock seals in my 1981 csr1000. the sticker on my front shocks says max pressure 250 kpa, 2.5 kg/cm2 (centimeters squared)35 psi. I have been told that this is wrong info. That I should put a maximum of 8 psi in my front shocks. I am just getting my bike in order and this is killing me. I am on a no more money budget unfortunately. My girl and I are expecting a baby boy on aug. 28th, so my bike fund has been turned into a baby fund. My problem is that I have the new fork seals for a stock csr1000, I strongly believe that the forks on my bike are stock. If this is true than when I replace the seals everything will be fine, If they are not and I inevitably trash the old seals and the new ones I have in my possesion are not correct I am done for. Has anyone seen this sticker on the front forks, Its on the right side lower shock arm, I will attach the pic but its really hard to read. Like I said I am about 98% sure these forks are stock, 2% not because I have not owned the bike since I was put on the production line. what would you do? ride it with whooped shocks this year or chance that I have the right seals, and then If the seals are right do I follow what the sticker says with a max of 35 psi? or a max of 8 psi as one of our fellow members says?

Look in my signature for a pdf version of the factory service manual. This tells you the max air pressure for the front forks is 8.5 psi. It will show you the sequence for front fork oil seal replacement. It will tell you the correct oil type and volume for the forks as well.

Hey you also have to remember that the bike you have has what's called air ride the forks you have significantly changes the ride with the amount of air pressure you put in. My Hayes manual tells me to add the same air pressure that are labeled on my forks. by the way I have the same forks as you and I ride with 20 psi in it. I like it a little soft. :)
