kz1000 steering bearing question

I recently bought a 1979 kz1000 b3 ltd Bike has 6000 miles on it.

The Previous owners son droped the bike and decided he didnt want it because it scared him.
WHen the bike went down the forks moved far enough to indent the tank. when I ride it it feels like the bars are slightly out of wac. A little off center.
There is not alot of damage to the bike. just scratches on the rear grab bar,tore up seat abit and the dent in the tank.
I dont noticve any wable at all but I feel like something is grabbing when I come to a stop and pulling slightly to one side. It is almost noticable. I know its not the front brakes. It happens when I use just rear brakes too. i used just rear brakes for several miles than touched front calipers and they were cold.

I was thinking steering head bearing....Any thoughts? How do you test steering beering. Also the slight off center of the bars .. How would I correct that.

Ill try to take closer pics and post them of the tank area.

the fork tubes can slip in the trees and cause alignment issues , not sure how to tell if fork is bent, if the bearing moves freely its probably not the issue

It looks like your center stand is missing so you need to figure out how to get the front wheel off the ground.
Then you can check to see how loose or tight the steering is by turning it from side to side.
You can also check for looseness by grabbing both fork tubes and trying to pull them forward.

After a crash it is probably best to reset the whole front end by loosening up all the bolts "except for the top fork tree bolts leave them tight" and follow the procedure for re tightening everything.
The procedure is well explained in the manuals.
