My 1980 kz550c came with a old H-D speedometers and no cable. I'm looking for an aftermarket tach and speedometer. How do I find one that will work with the same factory cables?

Why not just skip the cable in favor of some more modern technology? Maybe something like this -

I like those a lot, but I'm not very good at electronics and wiring. My bike only has a single headlamp, brake light, and a keyed ignition from a 1960 GM.

Btchalice you read my mind that is exactly what I want. The Harley speedometer I pulled off looked just like that. Gonna sell it and buy those. Thanx again.
