the springs on the sporty shocks I returned were the same diameter from top to bottom with no taper. The LTD I have is a shafty, and the bottom "eye" would not go on all the way due to the width of the harley shock. (It hit the hub before I could see enough thread to bolt it up.

I have since returned them, I will be getting the new shocks form JC whitney, 10.5 is the current plan. I sincerely hope that it lowers it significantly enough to get my feet on the ground. I was also looking into possibly getting the fenders painted black to match the body work.

I'm also looking into repacking the vance and hines muffler. The previous owner took out all the baffle material, it sounds like a sport bike or tuner...not very "cool" in my opinion.

Use some zipties to remove the springs, install the shocks and see if you have interference.

So I got the new(er) shocks ordered. Went with 11.5 I should have those in about 5 days, also ordered packing material for my V&H muffler, and new hand grips. Can't wait until next week...pictures will follow.

I checked on shocks from a vulcan 500...they run only 1/4" shorter that what I have now...which is 13". so I went with shocks from a different supplier and got 11.5 from 13 I hope it is enough of a drop to make low speed manuevers easier.
