Yes. The KZ650 manuual calls for applying "a thin coat of PBC (Poly Butyl Cuprysil) grease to the caliper holder shafts and the holder holes. Nissan sells it (plug in link below); let us know if you find another source. Ed

Ed,

Do you know anything about those plugs (13) in the diagram?

Thanks,

Ryan

There are actually all kinds of brake caliper grease at most auto parts stores. Don't know why it would be any different, infact it is probably better than what the manual calls for since it is 30+ years old.

I know when I do the brakes on my cars / truck the pads come with little packets of some sort of silicone grease and you can buy more of it in auto stores. The only folks I see actually supplying PBC grease is Nissan, and I think the dealerships buy it in bulk. I wonder if you took a small container to a Nissan dealer and asked to buy a little scoop would the service guy just give you a freebee blob of it? Might be worth asking if a dealer is close to you.

Ed, I definitely don't have those four no.(13) plugs with my brakes that I tore down. I kept everything together in a zip lock for each brake. I don't see anything that resembles them. I wished I knew if a guy really needed them or not. Apparently the owner before me didn't use them.

Also I noticed I didn't keep the brake caliper mounts with proper brake. Attached is a picture of the bracket. One side has a longer shaft and the other side looks to have a built in spacer. I can't tell by the diagram which side gooes out or vice versa. And also are all of the new rubber groumets supposed to be such a tight fit, seems like you have have to stretch the poop outa them to get them on.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationI found this guy selling some 1980 model brakes on e-bay and he has pics. of the brake components laying out and it looks as if he isn't showing those plugs in his pictures either.
