KZ 1000 SHAFT DRIVE/FINAL DRIVE REBUILD

Hello. I'm trying to resurect a 79 KZ1000 shaft drive. I took the rear end apart to clean it up and I am trying to dissasemble it. Can anyone tell me how to get the ring gear assembly apart. It seems that some components are pressed together. I want to get to the bearing that is in the outer housing and under the ring gear. Can anyone offer some insight to this situation. Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks. Julio

Why?
Is it bad?
I'm on my third KZ1000st and never had a problem with the final drive.

When I got the KZ it was clear that the drive shaft was left open to the elements. As a result the final drive gear housing filled up with water. I took it all apart and cleaned it all up, but when I would turn the input gear it would bind up. You could turn it past the binding. It would go through in this thump thump fashion. A little difficult to explain. It seems that the binding is occuring in the large bearing in the ring gear housing. If that's what it's called. It's not really a housing, but I think you get it. This is why I want to take it apart. Thanks.
