G'day guys,

well....after ages of procrastinating and stuffing around wondering how to do it, today i changed the handlebars on my 82 1000 LTD. A mate of mine gave me the old bars from his 2010 Triumph Bonneville.

What can I say......this is the best thing I have done to my bike, and it is a completely different machine to ride now that those damned ape hangers are gone. I didn't realise what a huge difference it would make to the riding experience. I still have to change a couple of things to make it "neat", but I am VERY happy. Biggest thing was moving the front indicators. I bought 50mm stems from Z1 Enterprises......for future reference....the threaded portion that comes with the 50mm stems is TOO SHORT.........get longer ones.

Make the change - you won't regret it.

Anyway....here's some blurry pics (it was getting dark and i turned the flash off for better light.

Peter

I'm lucky I read this just in time; I was just about to place an order for these handlebars :woohoo:

I've seen it before, Ed, and it is the silliest riding position I have ever seen  The amount of control he has over the bike is next to nawt, though :pinch:
