Shock Recommendations? was created by 750steve
I know most brands we have at home in the UK here & was thinking of putting some Hagon's onto my bike, they're not rebuildable so i thought i'd look further into some you guys have across the water.

Z1E are doing Progressive Shocks which i think are rebuildable, they seem a good option but i thought i'd ask about alternatives to look at 1st, is there anything else around the $250 mark i should look at? Pity i missed the Ikon deal but thats just my luck!

Ohlins, Marzocchi, Bitubo etc etc would all be great if i could get them at the money im looking to spend but somehow i doubt i can find em at that.

Progressives are not rebuildable.
I think the closest at twice the price are Works.
Anyone else know of other options?

I've got the Progressives from Z1E and really like them. I've been running them for a year and they were a major improvement over what was on the bike when I got it.

something to consider as well. I've seen anything from 320 - 330mm replacements for my bike ,the shocks i took off have a 320mm spacing from eye to eye centre. Z1E list the progressives at 12.5 inches (317.5mm), would it be dangerous or are there any things i should know if i were to go for 12.25 inch shocks (311mm)?

*edit* thanks for your reply's guys

i also run progressives and found them a big improvement over the worn out stockers.

a good shock for the price.

you get what you pay for in suspension.

unfortunately i have been unable to afford high dollar shocks for my street bike, yet  .

Sorry, I am voting against progressive. Never liked anything I bought from them and if something goes wrong good luck getting them to warrantee anything. The progressive shocks I have bought which were supposedly for my bike made it ride like a ridgid. This goes for the front springs too. I’ve had several sets from them and rode other bikes with them too. I got to one point where I just hated riding. These days I keep the stock stuff as long as it still works. The best shocks I have ever owned and still have are ZRX shocks.
A few years ago I thought I would try a set of progressive air shocks. I really liked them for the first 100 miles I rode. Then, I realized that the chain had rubbed right through the shock body and all the fluid drained out. Called them up and went back and forth about 3 or 4 times and they insisted I modified my bike somehow because they had a guy they knew somewhere who said they fit! They did not refund my money.

Hold the phone! I was just about to purchase some progressive fork springs for my 77. I've seen where it is recommended to run 10W oil and use a litte less due to the extra coils to prevent an over-stiff condition. If you say that's what you did and still had an issue, I'm going with stock.
