Maybe this has been addressed before and maybe its a "Dumb" question, But...I am curious....has anyone ever converted their Z or KZ from chain drive to Belt Drive? Wondered if thats an option available in the aftermarket?
Thanks

I converted a 750LTD I used to ride, mainly because of the price of new belt and pullies. Yes, the chain was noisier and needed regular maintenance, but the conversion was easy and relatively inexpensive. Oh yes, it will also look a bit silly because the rear sprocket will be much smaller in diameter than the pulley, so there will be a gap between it and the pulley (chain) guard.

I was asking why because you might have a set of wheels from a harley or buell that you wanted to fit to the kz. I fully understand wanting to change things to be different and that stock sucks so good luck and be all you can be.

rslingshot,
please accept my apologies, if I offended you, or my reply sounded too casual , not my intention to offend anyone.
I thought maybe a belt drive might be an interesting mod,no,I do not have a Harley or Buell wheel.
I guess the other thing that intrigued me was I don't recall ever having read a thread about anyone doing this. Not even sure its "Doable" ?.
Thanks for your input.

Not offended at all no worries here I am all for mods my thought was if you had harley wheels or something like that it would be easyer to fit sprockets to the wheels. But I would say that a belt drive is doable for sure.

Thanks
Guess I am wondering if there are aftermarket suppliers that offer these parts ( Affordable?!)
Any thoughts as to where/whom may have these? Not sure I will do it but thinking about it, also guess I would have to calculate the ratio and all.
Thanks Again

Try scootworks. I don't think they have a kit for the KZ line, but they might be willing to work something up:
