front fork ??
27 Nov 2011 03:40
Im attempting to run a 88 honda hurricane front end and was wondering if anyone has messed with one of these before? It has air valves at the top of the tubes, I put new seals and oil in them and they dont have much travel and dont rebound very well? Im running the spec amount of oil and air, and I can pull the forks down by hand and bottom them out? Any tips? thanks

How much air pressure do you currently have in the forks? Do you know what the spec is from Honda for the original application? I would guess that a 1988 Hurricane is at least comparable to a Z1/KZ900/KZ1000 for weight, if maybe slightly lighter, but not much.
Too much air pressure might counteract the springs and make the fork perform as you have described. Unfortunately, I have no specific experience with this front end. I do own a 1982 CB750F with an air over oil fork that calls for 11-17 psi air pressure. No clue if that is even remotely similar to a Hurricane that is six model years newer.

it doesnt seem right. the springs alone should supply a lot more resistance than that.
maybe try and google a Huricane forum for some help.
