78 KZ or 79 SR?

I have the kz torn down minus the engine and front end. I keep looking at the frame of the SR and it seems to be flatter than the KZ. The KZ seems to have a pitch in the rear of it. So the question is Do rip the heart out of the KZ and put it in the SR? Or should chopping the KZ behind the shocks be enough?

guess it depends what you are going for.

I would love to see pics if you have them. I have an SR myself, and was always curious to see an SR frame side-by-side with a regular KZ frame. I know there are differences but some are hard to pickup on when wrapped in parts etc..

If needed, KZRider's FILEBASE often includes bike pictures, charts, and wiring diagrams, along with other information about each model, such as the magazine test covering the KZ 650 D2.

Both bikes are KZ650 models. The 79 is a KZ650-D2 SR. The 78 is either a B2 or a C2 Custom. The B2 had spoked wheels & a Rr Br drum, while the C2 had cast alloy mag wheels & triple disk brakes. If it's a Custom, don't hack it up.

Vindicator, it is a custom. Double discs in the front single in the rear.

Ultimately just looking for a clean cafe look, nothing extravagant. Just a bubble tail fairing, stock wheel, clubman bars, pod filters (installed yesterday). The c2 custom may get hacked up because my buddy wants the SR. . .

Sounds like another one bites the dust. Eventually the KZ650-Custom will be rarer than the Z1.

If the pitch on the back won't affect the tail too much, I'll leave it be.
