I've been working on a pretty complete resto of a 1978 D1 (Z1R)

I've called virutally every dealer that ever comes up in Quickstar (or whatever that software program is that helps Kawai dealer share info) and just recently found some Rear master Cyl. parts I needed after realizing my whole assembly went missing.

Here's what's weird: I got a new cap, diapgragn and plate and found a very clean body and resevoir and pieced together a new-ish looking master cyliner unit but the resevoir is pretty discolored from age. I thought it might be nice to find a new one to show off when I popped the side cover.

This part does not seem to exist... Check the parts fiches and you'll see there is simply no part number for it.

The D3 (1980 Z1R) shows one but NOT the 1978... I also beieive the 1979 LTD and 1978 Z1R share a common master cyl unit and the fiche for the LTD also does NOT show a part number for it either.

It's freaky... they show the part yet do not name it or acknowledge it.

I suppose the only way one would get one is if you could find a complete assenbly (and trust me... there is not one ANYWHERE... I looked EVERYWHERE!)

Thoughts anyone?

Your looking for the white plastic resovoir?
How about a picture of it. Do you need the one that is solid in the housing or the one that has the rubber feed line?

Tip! I have sold restored stuff on ebay for 11 years.

Try soaking it in BLEACH!

I cleaned up a Z1 chain oil tank once, it made it look like night and day difference.

Common thing. You buy an entire new master cylinder to get the part. No longer available of course, but when it was, that is what was done.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

The white plastic reservoir that pushes into the the cylinder assy. See the picture. The part has no number. Nor does the stand-alone cylinder for that matter.

I soaked it in bleach for 3 days and it did not lighten one bit.

Can anyone post a picture of the master cylinder assembly as appears on the bike please? My cylinder is silver and unpainted, yet I've seen used ones that are black.

I found a new cap and a used complete assy. from which I can grab the diaphragm and possibly it will have a whiter reservoir. We'll see.

I just find it odd that they never listed the reservoir as a part.

Thanks all.

I also found lots of places that had the cap or the diaphragm... some would not ship to Canada and one pirate wanted $32.50 to mail the plastic plate that weighs about 2 grams and is thick as a silver dollar.

Another place had all 3 parts but simply would not ship to Canada.

The used cylinder assy. arrives this week and my new cap is enroute.
