79 KZ1000 ST E1 throttle grip installation
17 Aug 2011 18:10
Should the throttle grip be installed all the way on untill it bottoms out on the handle bar? Also what is the hole for on top of the handle bar where the starter buttom assembly goes.

It should be close, but the handlebar should not be touching (and binding) against the inside of your grip end.
The hole on the top of the bar aligns with a post on the starter button assembly to make sure it stays put and doesn't rotate when you twist or let off the throttle forcefully.

Be sure to lube where the tube rotates on the handlebar. White lithium grease works well there. Ed

If you haven't already you should try a set of Oury's, I found them to be the best I've had on my shafty for all day riding, corner carving, anything really.

It will work on your bike if that is what you're asking, the cables are 54012-150 and 54012-149.
AS far as different 150 part numbers, then the answer is no, they are the same the have other cables like 54012-1504, etc but those aren't for your bike.
