GS arm installation ?'s
07 Aug 2011 14:34
Hi guys, I'm in the midst of installing a GS arm on my KZ and, while figuring out what size wheel spacers I need to take up the slack of the wider arm, I noticed that the lower shock mounts will be outboard of the top mounts quite a bit.
I have a set of Progressives with the forked (or clevis) bottom mounts on the way so, I need to know from you that have done this conversion, if the rubber grommets in the mounts will give enough to allow these to be mounted securely at that angle.
Also, just FYI, I measured the length of the two arms when I had them off and, the GS only gains me 1" over the stock arm. I've always heard 1.5"-2" so, I wonder if the '80 LTD maybe had a bit longer arm than some models or there are differences in GS sizes from year to year. I think the one I have was off an '82 1100.

Not much of a place to put that style of mount on this arm. I know there are ways to mount the eyelet style shocks on this arm with a bit of welding but, I have the Progressives coming so, just wanted to see if those that have done it could shed some light on the subject.
