Looks like four good reasons to me.
Lighter by what? 6oz? Two 3/8" thick 8" dia. pieces of steel weigh the same where I live, 100" of chain are roughly the same weight, 10,000# tensile strength is 10,000# tensile strength, cheaper by what $10?, and a stock rear and +/- 1 on the front seems to work for a lot of people. As far as Otto goes, longer life?, fewer adjustments?, better mileage? All things being equal I fail to see how one would outperform the other in these areas.

The side plates of the chain are much thinner on the modern chains plus the rollers are also a bit smaller. I know for a fact that with everything being even on two bikes the quarter mile time difference is substantial. My buddy drag races a 83 GPz1100 (1500) turbo, and he dropped a whole third second when he went to the 530. you must realize that a couple of oz when spinning turn into pounds of centrifugal mass. Chain mass is a funny thing when it gets to spinning fast. I am giving you results right off of my GPz1150 I ran both on the bike and those are the results. The less HP out of the engine the greater the result difference will be. As I said multiple times before; I was a skeptic also before I switched. It took a couple of pros to convince me. I have no profit in this so do what ever you want. Mount a #60 industrial chain for what I care. It will mount right on your existing setup. I did that years ago when I did not know much. I thought that stronger is better. But it added 1# to the chain mass and took 15mi off of my top end on my Z1R, and added a whole second to the 1/4 mike.

Some interesting tidbits from the web:
www.ekchain.com/drag.htm
Drag Racing Chain Applications By Horsepower
530DRZ2 -- up to 500hp
more than 500hp -- 630SHB
www.3guyz.com/index.php?option=com_conte...7:examples&Itemid=94
Generally, if you compare a 530 chain to an equivalent rated 630 chain, you will find that the heavier pins and rollers afforded by the longer pitch will result in a stronger chain construction, and higher tensile strength. In a fixed length of chain, the 630 chain will have fewer pitches, many times resulting in less "set" or "stretch" as the chain wears. The sprockets for a 630 pitch have a matching 3/4" pitch, making the teeth larger, deeper, and stronger at the base of the tooth.

532GSV XW-ring Rated up to 1300cc
Applications:
Rated up to 1300cc street applications, this streetbike chain has a maximum tensile strength of 9,200 foot pounds and a wearlife index of 1,000.
630GSV XW-ring Rated up to 1400cc
Applications:
Perfect for police bikes and bikes to up to 1400cc. 630GSV has a maximum tensile strength of 11,300 foot pounds and a wearlife index of 1,000.
Which oil's the best?
Which tires?

08 Aug 2011 01:33 - 08 Aug 2011 01:57the 530 on the back of my 1327 was closer to 12,000psi,that little bit of weight all ads up when youre spinning that back wheel at 100 plus mph. :laugh:i stand corrected,my 530zzz chain was only rated at 11,000 psi! :woohoo:andy9802gt wrote:steell wrote:wireman wrote: lighter weight, stronger, cheaper more gear combinations......

Ah for KZ Christs sake...
For all the manufacturers, low end chains (cheaper) won't have the same tensile strengths/specifications as the higher end series they offer... Ek for example, compare their cheapest 530 pitch chains to their ZZZ series, ya they can get expensive over the costs of a 630 chain but definitely strong enough for a KZ...
How many gear change possibilities any of us really going to do ya can't accomplish with a 630... Hmmm... :S
As for colors, WTF ya want pink?... Can you get a matching pink rear sprocket now days....
All in all, if it works for ya and you're not adjusting your chain twice a week  , awesome use it....
As for weight, again take a good dump... Same effect...
   You guys kill me

My chain has to match my socks and my underwear.
On some "sporting" rides that might be one color when I start out and at the end winds up being brown.
