KZ550 replacement shocks was created by shaftDKZ
I'm replacing the shocks on my 83 KZ550 LTD and I was wondering what anyone on here would suggest as a replacement pair of. I am a pretty big guy and would like some with a little better weight capacity if possible.

Not sure what is "big" by your standards, but I weighed 210 lbs and put some 11.5 eye to eye vulcan 500 shocks on mine. Did the same with my 750. Worked great. Now depending how heavy your passengers are, you might want to get something longer than 11.5.
I did it because mine were shot and I hated how high the back end sat on both bikes.

So from what I understand my bike Isn't limited to the size shocks it has on it right now. Say I wanted to get some taller ones (like you said) for my weight (about 220lb) and my height (6' 3'') I could do that, have a firmer ride and a little more leg room?

I think you have 13.5 eye to eye right now. If you got the same length but newer, I'd think they would work better, mainly because they aren't 30 years old.
Now, if you get much longer, be careful, because it might affect how the bike handles. I'd try and stay with the vulcan shocks though, because they bolt right on. I heard of people using sporter shocks, but you need to spread the lower mount open... I'm not sure, never did it.

I have a set similar to these on my 550, 6'2" & 205, works very well, would go above the 365mm length though, maybe 335mm would be best.
