Brake Pads was created by mopguy
I need to replace the brake pads on my 81 KZ1000 Ltd. I have been looking at after market brake pads like EBC & EMGO, I dont know which to purchase, has any one used these pads?, or can anyone recommend one.

I have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ750 Ltd. I bought new. I recently managed to get it out of my garage after 28 years and put it on the road again (2010). I feel like a kid all over again. Since I have acquired 3 78 KZ1000 Ltd, 1 1981 KZ1000 Ltd, and another 1980 KZ750 Ltd. Love the LTD's.

I have had good luck with EBC pads on other bikes. I have not tried the KZ specific ones as my bike doesn't have the stock brakes. Actually I'm running EBC organic pads on it now. No complaints there. No experience with Emgo pads.

I buy my pads from Sixity. Yours would be $40 for a complete set for your bike. store.sixity.com/Items/004000360?&caSKU=...s%20Sintered%20F%2bR

Your best bet is to get genuine Kawasaki pads; you might be able to find them on eBay. Having said that, I've been using EBC pads for the last 10K miles. Initially they squealed like a pig, but after easing the leading edges on them by filing a chamfer they quieted down. They work fine and make no noise now, but I did manage to track down some NOS pads that I will install next go around. Ed

I have a KZ900 A4 with dual discs and calipers, all original Z900 parts but using braided lines and EBC pads, they work very well for a stock braking system. I AM having trouble withleaking calipers though!

Oh, almost forgot, bought off Jeff at Z1E because he is a GENTLEMAN.

Definitely Jeff and EBC. Can't stress the benefit to stopping enough if you swap the front brake lines out with stainless lines. 30 year old rubber brake lines aren't lines anymore they're balloons, I think mama Kaw recommended a 5 year replacement schedule for brake lines for all their bikes in the manuals.
