Dont freak out old guys, im not posting on the forum about racing on the streets or riding beyond legal limits. I have been to the strip a few times and practicing for the strip lately and every time i get my bike around the triple digits mark and higher it gets an uncomfortable wobble. My front wheel was aligned at the shop and i dont see any visual problems other than i believe my fork seals need to be replaced. Would this cause a wobble? The bike is my 83 gs1100e, sorry its not a kz

It may be the tires. How many miles on them? I had the same problem on my KZ650, but it started at 90 mph, a couple years ago. My tires looked good, but they were without a doubt the cause. I replaced steering stem bearings, swing arm bushings, wheel bearings, fork seals, and shocks. These changes made the bike more stable at speed and helped dampen the wobble a little, but it wasn't until I replaced the tires that the wobble was absolutely gone. The tires were Michelin Macadams and had about 6,000 miles on them. They were mounted and balanced correctly and the wobble didn't start until they had about 4,000 or 5,000 miles, and it got steadily worse even though they showed perfectly normal wear patterns and still had excellent tread left. I replaced them with Pirelli Sport Demons. Now the bike is steady as and oak desk all the way up to top speed (near 120). BTW, a wobble at that speed sure does get your attention, doesn't it? Ed

By the way, I'm an old guy.

wobble as in
- quick type of chatter
- or lazy front to rear

In my opinion the lazy wobble is a feature in the KZs about 100. Hence why we all try and brace the frame whenever working on them.

I agree fast wobble likely to be balancing or steering head bearings (check to see if they are at least tight enough.

Well the tires were replaced before the ride to the Sturgis Rally last year so ide say less than 1500 miles on them total. I was having an odd problem with the tire coming off the bead as discussed in an earlier thread but it is fixed now and after your reply ed i feel like maybe i just need to try another new tire this summer.
