Cleaning the belt - belt drive KZ440

What can you use to clean the drive belt on a 440 LTD? I have read just simple soap and water from the internet and dry with a cloth. I also read that you can rub it with soap afterwards or beeswax to help it not make some squeaks. Is this all legit? I heard you should actually NOT use lubrication, but wax is ok? I feel as if my forward sprocket is making the belt make noise and want to give it a good cleaning tonight.
