The Z1R cafe racer models have shorter handlebars and shorter cables.
So the shorter Z1R cables may fit a Z1 with shorter replacement handlebars.
Z1E likely has the shorter cables desired from another model without needing a custom-made cable.

PMI out of Japan has nice stainless braided cables!!
For Z1 & KZ900-1000
I have a nice set of 2-throttle cables and a clutch cable, about 4 inches shorter.
Z1Enterprises deals with PMI from Japan.

Would assure that the stainless braided cable's exterior surface is finished with a clear plastic coating to protect any bike finish (paint, etc.) that comes in contact with the cable.
Stainless braid itself will for example quickly abrade against and remove paint from body parts.
