Another swing arn swap question. was created by tigr1959
Im adapting a 98 GSXR 750 swingarm to my 1978 KZ650.I shortend, chopped and machined new axle lugs. I have a wider tire that came with the swing arm. with everything "mocked'up. looking at it from the rear towards the forks. the rear sprocket is about 1/2inch to the left of the main drive sprocket. have you guys been building spacers? to get the main drive sprocket and rear sprocket to line up?

I believe an offset sprocket is required - basically a taller sprocket.

There is an offset sprocket in this link (they don't have a link directly to the sprocket) but I'm not sure if it fits a 650.

DoubleDub is right on the money. I had to use a 1/2" offset sprocket and I was using a 1995 GSXR 750 swinger. I actually ordered the one that he linked from American Classix. If you order from them, stay on top of it. I had to call the owner when it got to be two weeks. His excuse was that he had a set coming from heat treat and I would get my sprocket in another week. He was also surprised that I never received an email to apprise me of the situation. Suspiciously, my sprocket arrived two days later. Hmmmmm..... Anyway, I got my sprocket and it works perfectly for me.

You will find that when you get your chain out that far, that you will need to make some clearance in the frame for the chain. Mine was too close for comfort. Also, you will need to clearance the counter sprocket cover on the inside. At least I did on my KZ1000. I'm assuming that the 650 is reasonably close.
