I had my KZ 750 sitting outside under a tarp for a 10 days in the rain. Last Saturday I rented a storage unit and stored the bike until yesterday when the rain finally let up. I rode it to work yesterday and noticed that the rear brake pedal didnt want to go down. I forced it down at a stop light and it didnt return. I was able to pull it up with my toe and ride to the shop using just the front brake. I checked it out and the return spring looks 31 years old but its intact, the pedal is really stiff but it doesnt feel like the master cylinder is resisting.

Some one told me I should buy a bunch of horses once. I bought a bunch of bikes instead.

Take off the reservoir cap, and if possible look for two(2) small holes in the bottom, they may be clogged affecting the brake action. You'll probably need to drain and refill the brake system & bleed out the trapped air.

I spent about two hours yesterday pulling it off and cleaning it up. I had to take the torch to the aluminum mount to get it loose. I went thru the entire rear brake system and it all checks out. The area under the MC boot was a little rusty so I cleaned it out and rubbed silicone lube all over that area and on the groove for the boot. The boot is still in good shape too.

Same problem on same bike. The pivot point where the pedal and mount meet was frozen up. Hammer and punch finally got it out. Used sandpaper to clean the rust up and then lubed it up. 3 years running and no issues.

Apbling, it seems weve both had a the same issues with these bikes. My latest thing is the #1 carb is leaking. I thought it was the float bowl gasket originally but there is a trail of varnish down the side, it looks like the fuel crossover is leaking. I have the kits coming to rebuild all 4.

Usual suspects. If you look at alot of my previous posts, I battled the carbs for an entire summer with little leaks and stuff. After you get stuff cleared up, it purrs like a kitten.

If it's the crossover (which mine was leaking too haha, along with the oring), I think I ordered those o rings special from kawasaki through z1. I didn't want to dick with unganging the carbs more than once. Not sure if the regular rebuild kits come with one... I'm guessing they dont.
