Master Cylinder Compatability? was created by Marneman
So I have installed a set of superbike bars on my 82 LTD. After rebuilding the master cylinder I noticed that it sits off level quite a bit compared to the LTD bars. Has anyone run it this way, or should I be looking for a J model master cylinder?

I do have an earlier master off of a 77 KZ1000A. Would this be compatable with the dual disc front on the 82?

Thanks,

Bill

Thanks Wireman. I guess I will have a freshly rebuilt master up for sale. The angle is just too far off on the LTD model.

Yes. Where sitting off-level allows the fluid level to reach the gasket, there is imo far more risk of leakage, sooner or later.

Consider an unopened Coke bottle sitting in the fridge.
Standing vertical, it won't leak past the cap, even if the cap doesn't 100% seal.
Laid on its side, the potential exists for leakage past the cap.

Good Fortune! :)
