Deflate the tires. :woohoo: Sorry. My wife suggested platform shoes.

Yeah 3 inches might just reduce your ground clearance too much and when tight cornering you might start making sparks. Sure wakes you up when things start dragging on a bike. Good luck.
Take it from me cuz I found
If you leave it then somebody else is bound,
To find that treasure, that moment of pleasure,
When yours, it could have been.

I got the 500 shocks (11.5) on my 750 LTD and love them. Make the bike sit more like a cruiser. I always thought the ass end sat too high (for the LTD model). After throwing them on (took just a few minutes) I really noticed how shot my old ones were. I weigh 210 and the wife is 150. I have them set to the stiffest possible because I was worried about bottoming out, but no problems at all. I might drop down a setting though because when I hit a sharp bump it is a little bit of a jolt.
I just picked up another pair for my 550 too. Guy wanted 40.00 + ship on ebay for them. I flipped him 20 thinking he wouldn't take it, but he did! Just keep an eye on ebay, they are on there all the time.

Besides ground clearance you might have issues with the kick stand angle. You might want to look into a spare seat that you can shave the foam. Taking some of the width out of the seat will help too.

If you could find a bolt in swingarm that is a couple of inches longer, that would bring the rear down.
I had to go to longer shocks on my bike because the Kerker is draging. Roy
