KZ750 Spectre side cover panels? was created by tabmow
Hi all,
I have a 1982 KZ750 Spectre, and after a few weekend rides, this morning I just noticed that the left side cover (the cover over the fuses) is missing (must have fallen off during one of the rides or something). Any suggestions on how to get a replacement? I took a quick look on ebay, and I see some KZ750 left side cover panels available, but none are for a 1982 KZ750 Spectre. For example, some are for a regular 1980 KZ750, etc. Will the other model panels fit my bike? Or was the spectre panels different sizes?

Thanks for any and all information you can provide.

Thanks for the info both of you. I'll check on the two ebay links above (although i forgot to mention i"m in Canada so one of the ebay listings flat out says they will not ship to Canada and the other says to contact them, which i'll do).

thanks.

When you do get a replacement cover, do like lot of owners are doing and drill through the plastic studs so a lanyard or a cotter pin can be used to secure the cover(s). A new set of rubber grommets will greatly reduce the chance of them flying off too. www.z1enterprises.com sells new grommets.

The '83 750 LTD F1 side covers will fit the 750 Spectre. I researched the other covers for 750's and we are the odd duck. Spectres and the F1 will swap, none of the other 750 models will fit on our models.

Great - thanks for both those pieces of info as well both of you! Will be very useful. For now, one of the ebay folks that Patton listed agreed to ship to Canada (yay!) so i'll be getting one of those for now.

thanks again.

If running individual pod air filters instead of the stock air box, the side covers reportedly have a greater tendency to blow off the bike.

As martin suggested, if in doubt about age or condition of the grommets, would replace all of them with new grommets from Z1 Enterprizes. In addition to providing additional owner-supplied security as also mentioned.
