KZ550 A1 front brake caliper help/request

Hi everyone.

As part of my journey towards getting my KZ back on the road I've rebuilt my front caliper with new seals and cleaned all the cack out of it. After several false starts I've finally got the correct pads too, but this has led to my current problem - the metal plate which holds one of the pads in place inside the carrier is missing. It's number 14 (and 15 and 16) in the attached Haynes picture:



I'm not too fussed about the bolt and washer as I can get those anywhere, but I don't have a hope in hell of sourcing the plate itself; I'm in the UK and this is a US import bike, and even if it's a common part with our Z550s and their twin discs you so rarely see them being broken at all (let alone the A1s) that I could be waiting months before finding one.

Given that, would someone on here be kind enough to nip outside with a ruler or vernier and measure their plate up for me so I can make one please? I could probably bodge one up just using the caliper as a reference but I figured I might as well do as good a job as I can on something as critical as the brakes.

i can check with my source,but hes probably going to want to sell complete caliper and shipping would suck.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationThere are 61 models from Kawasaki that share that front brake spacer, maybe this will help find you one. Kawasaki says discontinued, NLA. But was listed as <$6, some place might have NOS.

Thank you for that, and apologies for the delayed reply - it's been a hell of a week at work.

After closer investigation and tinkering, it now appears that my bike doesn't have the standard caliper fitted. This is annoying in itself given that I now have the wrong pads, but the fact that even this caliper appears to be incomplete is really rather tedious.

It's at the point where I'm just looking for a new and complete caliper to fit to the vehicle, so ebay scouring it is. I'll double check before I buy, but it seems according to the Haynes that as long as I get a left hand caliper from a kwak 550 it should fit the bolt pattern on the forks. Here's for hoping.
