so you dont think that it has anything to do with the 1980 speedo drive with an earlier model speedometer?

After my accident I replaced my damaged 80mph with a 140mph and it's off by 8mph. These spedos were not very accurate to begine with.

so your speedo is off by 8ish and mine is off by anywhere from 15 to 30 depending on how fast i am going... i did notice that while driving (not safe to do...) when i wiggled the clutch cable... which is almost pinning the speedo cable... that the speedometer jumped around... i wonder if i have the speedometer cable pinched with the clutch cable and it is affecting its performance? need to do some adjusting...
