so hypothetically, if someone, say myself, drove their steering bearing onto their lower triple tree without, say, putting the grease seal on first, how would one go about removing afore-mentioned bearing without destroying it? Hypothetically, of course. I would never knowingly screw something so basic up. Not me.
Or should I just go ahead and order a new set?

if
big "if" there,
you are living right.
you can sometime work it back off with a blunt chisel.
i'd say 50/50 chance of success.

If one were to use a hypothetical punch, with the end tapered down to a knife edge, and hammered between the bearing race and the steering shoulder - and do this repeatedly all around the circumference of the bearing - then one might hypothetically just levitate the bearing off the shoulder. Then one could hypothetically inspect the bearing race to be sure it is not nicked or damaged. Also do a hypothetical inspection of the steering shoulder and dress any nicks with a hypothetical file. One just might get hypothetically lucky.
