Pics of my new cafe seat
12 Mar 2011 11:05 - 12 Mar 2011 11:07
I bought this seat cover and foam off of Ebay
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...em&item=400196538634
It comes from Vietnam, so it took close to three weeks to get it. It comes ready to put on a seat pan. The cover appears to be very good quality.
I bought a seat pan to use to build this seat. Now I can pull the two hinge pins and put my standard seat back on when my wife wants to ride.
Overall I'm very pleased with it. The foam is nice and firm. It installed easy. I sprayed the foam and pan with adhesive. It took only a few minutes to bond. I warmed the cover with a hair dryer to make it easier to get the wrinkles out.

Nice job on the seat AND NICE bike! I'm taking a CSR seat and making a solo out of it. I hope mine comes out as nice. Your bikes paint is outstanding. Did you do it?
Take it from me cuz I found
If you leave it then somebody else is bound,
To find that treasure, that moment of pleasure,
When yours, it could have been.

Thanks Proxy! The previous owner painted the body work. I painted the wheels and brake components.
Make sure you post pics of your seat when you get it done.

I wish I could say for sure. As long as the seat pan dimensions are the same, it should work. Hopefully somebody with more knowledge will reply.

Seat pans, hinge locations and lock mechanisms were changed on 1976 KZ900 models, and don't easily adapt to the earlier Z1 models.
