I just laughed out loud that this ^^

Anyway, does anyone on here have experience with AP Racing products? I'm eying up their "classic" calipers and MCs, I really like the look and I'm sure I'd get incredible stopping power (more than my tire is capable of); but I don't know if they'd clear my spokes, what sort of disc options I'd have or where to get the right brackets to work with my KZ lowers.

I have 2 KZ1000 rotors, a '96 GPZ (5/8) master cylinder (recommend rebuild, but decent shape), a dual disc splitter, and a right side GPZ750 caliper available for a very reasonable price. Was on an '80 KZ750G and I decided to stay with my single disc setup on the Z1. PM me if interested.

Jeff.Saunders wrote: On a Z1, the double disk setup is crazy heavy. Each disk rotor 7mm thick and weighs 10lb. On the later models, they reduced the thickness to around 5mm and drilled the disk to drop the weight.

I've ridden a Z1 with double disk, and actually prefer the single disk setup. Cosmetically the double disk gives a nice balanced look, but I didn't like the increased shock coming up through the bars.

The double disk setup will give a little more stability to the front wheel - the centrifical weight will help keep it pointed forwards - and reduce the likelyhood of wheelies...

The first time I saw the discs I about freaked! Those things are bulletproof!!!
