...DuPont Multi Purpose Spray Lube (with teflon) in the big blue can at Lowe's for $5. It goes on as a liquid spray to penetrate the links and the carrier dries leaving a waxy coating. It's clear, not sticky and doesn't fly off and make a mess. I've been using it for two years and my new chain hasn't needed adjusting. Works better than the other stuff.

I'll admit I never tried the chain wax like Ed uses, it may be fine, there may be others. The teflon lube sucks and doesn't work worth beans. I did try that, big mistake. Keeps clean though, one good point, lube quality is another story. Tried other lubes like PJ1, Calgard. They did not work at all. All they do is *look good* on a chain. You can get those rollers nice and black and look like lubed, but not. Might as well just paint your chain black every 300 miles does the same thing exactly.
Everyone thinks the brand of lube they use works fine. I have friends that their chain lube "works great", but they replace the chain/sprockets every 10,000 miles. With PJ1, Calguard, Teflon lube this is what you are looking at and may be lucky to get that far. I get 50,000-60,000 miles out of a chain using the BG lube. I have yet to hear of anyone taking my advice and trying it because it aint at Walmart and aint at you're local dealer most likely. Trust me, it works. It does fling off, but it's not sticky grease, it wipes off with a dry rag, then your chain is happily lubed.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Took me 30 years to find it: DuPont Multi Purpose Spray Lube (with teflon) in the big blue can at Lowe's for $5. more than 19,000 miles and counting, chain and sprockets look virtually new, no adjustment needed for last 12,000 or so.

Haven't tried the BG Chain Lube, but if ever happen onto it, will give it a try, based on Ron's experience. (While wearing old pants, of course.)
Also haven't tried but will likely pass on the black paint.
Good Fortune!
