Frame Differences

Ok i have been trying to sort through a TON of posts concerning kz swing arm and fork swaps:woohoo: . And i either find post listing Kz 1000 frames and the proper swaps with years and makes or posts stating my bike frame (kz 650d) and no years listed for the parts that swap out. sooooo after 2 weeks of searching ive come to this question...just how diffenet are the z1 frame or kz1000 frame to the kz650 frame? Are all the main suspention areas the same? I.e. Swing arm pivot point, front fork tree size? In other words can i use the same info for the z1 and kz1000 swaps for my kz 650d? ....That was long winded but any help would be great!

Btw im working on a 79 kz 650d ..

There are a number of members who have modded 650's...perhaps one of them will chime in...the problem with locating those bikes/members is that the Gallery section is closed so you can't wander through the posted photos...Mark Wing is a member who springs to mind.

Steering stems are the same,wheels are too and fork dia..
Everything else looks same on the 650's but they are smaller in size.

so just the over all frame is smaller...and all the swing arm axel? is the same?...that would be a hugeeee help...i love the amount of info on here but its a chore wadding through it all.

i figured the swing arm was smaller..seeing as its a smaller bike and tire...16 if i remember ...but is the pivot arm also smaller? as in the rod that holds it in place? is the distance from the left side of the frame to the right side smaller also...ok how about this lol...is there anywhere i can go to compare the frames ...as in anything that gives the mesurements of the different frames?

I have a 1978 kz1000 ltd stripped bare necked so if you have specific dimensions needed (if this model will help) I can measure and post here so that others can use them also.
