can i put a different master cylinder? was created by ninjaracerchick
the metal resevoir for the front brake on my 81 650 was cracked and messed up, so i chucked it! my question now is what is the possibilty of getting a master cylinder and resevoir from a completely different bike and get it to work with the stock caliper? with i somehow overpower the caliper??? am i pulling this out of my ass? haha i figure if i have to get something new i want to upgrade the look also, but dont want to spend the amount for that stuff plus matching rotor and caliper off a newer bike.

Just get one with the same diameter piston as the stock MC and you should be fine.

You can use just about whatever MC designed for similar application.

I'm currently exploring my options for front brakes. Right now, I have the stock caliper with a single disc, I'd like to run dual discs as I only have a drum in the rear (and am not interested in converting). One company I was looking into was AP Racing (read $$$$) cause they make a sweet retro looking caliper with old-school cooling fins and the works, but I was getting ridiculous price quotes.
So let us know what you go with!
