Something I've noted in the last couple years, Is that the "rubber compounds" used in after market "street grips" get Gooie . often to the point where on some bikes we'll drape rags over the grips of some of the of the bikes we have to roll in & out rather than touch. I like "mid 80'S" Honda grips myself, If you prefer a larger softer grip. look at FJR1300 grips, Granted it's a personal thing, & if you like the "Kuryalin" Grip's all bets are off. luck G

I tried about 10 different grips over the years and found a few things out about aftermarket grips. There are the real soft rubber grips like the Oury mentioned. I think these were shorter length than stock grips so you need to shorten your throttle tube or put up with gaps that look crappy. Otherwise they are comfortable, but in hot weather your hands will sweat and turn black, well depending on the color, your hands may turn green, pink, whatever, and they wear as this happens so eventually the tread is worn off just like a knobby tire. Also same rules apply as tires, 3 yrs max they must be thrown out regardless of miles because the rubber has hardened.
Well a joke this is, it's actually partially true, these grips get old and hard and real disgusting when old. I talk about oury like I don't like them, but actually they were the best aftermarket grip. The others, those fat grips, those foam grips. ICK, crap beyond the word. So oury are OK, scale of 1-10 I'd rate them a solid 6, others lower, foams are a 2. Actually th stock grips beat all of them and if you can put on more modern stock grips off a newer bike that's even better. For 100 years guys have changed out factory parts for junk for the sake of improvement and rarely does this improvement actually improve anything, much the opposite most the time.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

One of the '81 550 parts bikes that I bought had a pair of these Oury's in bubble gum pink, and they were as sticky as bubble gum too. They do work well when new, but I have no idea how old the set on that bike was. That bubble gum (or "dog dick pink" as I've heard it referred to before)was big in the early '90's so they were probably pretty old.
