rear tire on kz750h was created by dms_photo
I just bought an 82 kz750h. It has the drive shaft. i'm wanting to get some spoked wheels, but someone told me i couldn't switch them out due to the drive shaft. Is this true?

I tried searching on here for the info, but couldn't find anything. I did find the wheel bearing list, but it doesn't really provide an answer to my question. If this is possible, could someone tell me what to look for when buying the new wheel?

I don't think there are any spoked wheels that'll work with the drive shaft. The subject comes up quite often and no one has ever said otherwise that I recall.

The downside to getting spoked wheels is that you're gonna have to run tubes.
So, if you get a flat, there's no easy way to patch the rear tire so that you can limp home... unless one of those fix-a-flat-in-a-can actually works. But if the hole in the tube is too big....

Edit: Are you sure it's a 750H? Those are chain drive models.
There's a KZ750-F Ltd-Shaft & a KZ750-N Spectre (shaft drive).

Thanks for the response. That's what i was afraid of. Do you know what kind of aftermarket wheels are available for it?

I was told it's an "H", but someone also told me it's an ltd. I don't know how to tell really.

An H is a LTD chain driven.
An F is an LTD Shaft, and no 82 models were produced.
An N is a KZ750 Spectre

Are you getting the year model off the sticker behind the headlight?
The one that says "Manufactured Date"?
If so, that's not necessarily the year model, as kawasaki begins production of the following years models on the 7th month.
IE, 7/82 makes it a 83 year model, and 6/83 also makes it an 83 year model.

Go to www.kawasaki.com/DefaultFrame.aspx?strCo.../VICHOOSEVEHICLE.ASP and click on "continue" next to "motorcycle", and then select 1982, then 750, then look through the 750 models listed.

Thanks for the help guys. i looked up my vin number and it appears to be a 1983 "F" model. I think I'll just keep the wheels as-is for now. I do like the look of that bike above, but it just seems like too much hassle right now. maybe when I have a little more time I'll do it.
