Here are some pages from the Service manual.
And yes I believe it presses out from the lower triple clamp.

is it an aluminum or steel lower triple?
if steel you have to cut(grind or machine)the weld off and press it from the bottom up.if it is aluminum it will press from the top down.

you should be able to press from the top down.it should have a snap ring around the bottom of the stem that would prevent it from being pulled up through the lower tree when tightening it down on the bike (hopefully no one would ever try to tighten one that tight  ).
i have a twelve ton press and have been able to pop out busas,zx9's,zx7's,ktm's,klx 110's,kx 65'65,katana's.some of em are pretty tite but they have all come out.

it is always good to remember the forces that are present when the stem is mounted on the bike.the nuts and bolts on the top of the stem are always going to try to hold it all together, not pull it apart.

I'm trying to get mine out of the kz. I ground off the welds but I don't see the ring of the stem. How much grinding do you have to do? I have done a fair bit.

those welds will go 1/4 inch deep or better sometimes.
i usually cut them out with the lathe.

Ok I was getting worried that the grinding actually melded/blended the seam together where I would'nt see the the separation of the the two pieces. Is that even possible? I'm using a 4" wheel grinder.

that is possible that the part line blends in.
but a smack with a hammer will jar it enough to show the part line,if your deep enough yet.
being as it was welded on,it will press from the bottom of the triple up and out.

Thanks Leon. Ya I was already worried about the melding so I did the socket and hammer and no luck. I wasn't sure if I was deep enough or not so I left till I got more info.
