My '76 KZ900 LTD Project

Been very busy the last couple months. Getting dangerously close to completion. Heres some pics of the bike when I picked it up and some of it now.

The wheels were alot of work. used a mouse sander starting with 80 grit, then 120, 220, 400, 600. Used a dremel with a 80 grit flap wheel for tight spots. Finished off with the Mothers "cone" thing and dremel polishing tips. Painted the tank and ect. with Duplicolor rattle cans. Looks suprisingly good. Not quite done tho. Gonna clear coat and wet sand. Still waiting for tires to come in. Waiting for front master cylinder rebuilt kit also. Had all new brake lines fabricated this week. Just finished re-wiring everything.

I would have left the paint alone as it looked good the way it was or get it back to stock paint scheme. It can be done. Here's a picture of a junk 900 LTD I sold last summer.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Here's the same bike after the new owner did his repaint. It takes more than do it yourself to come out right.

That bike looks great!

I may someday return it to its original paint. I am on a very small budget. Even with sandpaper and everything, I'll have about 50 bucks into the paint.
