If you are replacing stock components you will need an 18 tooth front sprocket 42 tooth rear sprocket and a 110 link chain I believe
Z1E has all of the details here.

Pretty sure you'll have to measure the loop from front sprocket to rear and divide by pitch (5/8" for 530) which will give you the number of links. Not sure how much extra you would calculate for stretch/adjustment.

I would measure center to center distance from counter shaft to rear axle and double it. Divide by .625 for a 530 chain and add half the number of teeth on each of the sprockets. I THINK this will give yo the number of links needed in the chain. Or call Jeff at Z1E and give him the information and let him figure it out for you.

Where available, a "too short" chain (such as perhaps the old previously removed chain) could be temporarily installed onto the sprockets with ends held together using wire or string.
Measure the space between end links to determine number of additional links needed.
Chain length is usually determined by number of links.
Chain "stretch" is usually determined by linear measurement compared to a given known spec.
An alternative could be measuring linear distance of a string looped over both sprockets (in their installed positions). This linear measurement will likely result in a too long chain, maybe one or two links. Then remove links to fit application.
What's link size of the intended chain?
Good Fortune!

I haven't actually tried this, but it should work I think.
Measure the distance between the center of the axle and the center of the output shaft. Double it and divide by 5/8.
Add the teeth of the two sprockets together then divide by two.
Add the first number to the second number and that should be the chain length in links.
Example:
30" center to center equals 60" when doubled, divided by 5/8" equals 96, so that's 96 links.
17 plus 41 equals 58, 58 divided by 2 equals 29.
so 96 links plus 29 links equals 125 links.
Anyone see a problem with the above??
Seems to me like it ought to work, but maybe I missed something.
