Gpz/KZ swap questions. was created by Greaser89
Ok to start off I dont know if the forks i got for free are GPZ or KZ/ZX900 forks, or what they are at all. They look like the forks on the top banner at the top of the forum page or the bike below. They have the reflectors on them and are air adjustable (the air line is linked between both forks). They are 39mm forks, and the bottom triple tree has 2 bolts on both sides for fork clamps. Any idea?

Now if anyone can decipher what they are heres the next part of my question. I currently have a 1982 KZ750 with 36mm forks that i want to replace with this set that I got. If you do know what the "mystery" forks are, what size is the steering stem and what will I have to do in order to adapt the new stem, trees, and forks?

Thanks, Appreciate any help.

Ok so I'm guessing the forks are off a KZ1000. now whats the stem size on the kz750 vs. the kz1000 and how do I swap?

KZ1000s (later models) have air capability, but I believe the air inlets are linked at the top on1100s.Also,I believe most KZ1000 forks are 38mm,not 39.bj

900/1000 forks through 1980 are 36mm, 81 and up 1000 forks are 38mm
1983-1985 GPz750/1100 forks are 37mm (might be wrong on the 1100 though).

In case you're interested, All Balls has a page where you input the year/make/model of your bike, it then lists all the fork steering stems that will fit and the conversion bearings needed.

Saves an awful lot of hair pulling

Sounds good. Appreciate all the help. Will I gain anything out of doing the swap or am I better off sticking with the kz750 stock ones? building a cafe, tight cornering bike. Thanks
